Connections (a.k.a. drops) is the "last meter" extension of the network which provides connectivity & services to the users.
On a fiber optic GXPON infrastructure, it goes from the last splitter, up to the ONU terminal (usually a router).
Thus the first step for bringing connectivity is about building the connection (drop).
